When you\’re reaching for why so much of Jedi feels not quite dramatic enough, I think the words you\’re looking for are \”dorky\” and \”lazy.\” What always strikes me about Jedi is how no one–with the possible exception of Luke–seems like he or she wants to be there. The acting is in par with the prequels (\”Could you tell Luke, is that who you could tell? Bahhh…\”) and even the more effective moments (Luke finally losing it on Vader) are surrounded by so much other lackluster business that it\’s hard to feel their real impact.It\’s a movie that sounds potentially brilliant on paper, with ideas and themes like \”the indigenous, non-technological people overcoming the mighty military\” that just fall absolutely flat on the screen. Instead of saying, \”Oh! The unmasked Vader is just an undeveloped worm of a guy because he\’s been playing the role of the State his whole life,\” you go, \”THAT\’S what Darth Vader looks like? Okay…?\”Still, I\’d never give up Empire just to get rid of Jedi.

Thank you! I just can’t agree with Pete and his willingness to give up Empire so that Jedi never happens. Empire will always be where it’s at!
